ON EST ENSEMBLE

Textiles are carriers of culture. We use them to express our affiliation. In our globalized world, there are more and more people who feel that they belong to several cultural spaces. My work aims to express these multiple affiliations so that the people concerned are represented in their hybrid identity. The focus of my work is on those who feel they belong to West African culture and the city of Basel. - Two cultural spaces for which I have created a common visual language and united them in one cloth. The inspiration for this is West African ribbon weaving. Warp printing and woven patterns bring together motifs from Basel and West Africa. On Est Ensemble is both a vision and a statement - we are together!
